Customs Services Across United Kingdom
Our office in Ashford, Kent, is a short drive from the Port of Dover and the Channel Tunnel. We file UK import, export, ENS safety and security and T1/T2 transit declarations, obtain the Goods Movement Reference in GVMS and the ELO for routes through France, and prepare the documents that travel with the lorry. For goods of animal and plant origin arriving in the EU we submit CHED notifications and keep in touch with the veterinary and phytosanitary services. For Northern Ireland we issue the GMR and the PBN. Other procedures on that route are agreed case by case.
Customs Services We Provide in the United Kingdom
GMR in GVMS
A valid GMR is required for movements through UK ports that use GVMS, including the busy Port of Dover. We prepare GMRs for loaded and empty vehicles travelling between Great Britain and Europe, as well as between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
ELO for routes through France
ELO is required for certain freight movements between Great Britain and France. It brings the customs information needed for the crossing together in one reference and is linked to the vehicle before arrival at the border.
UK import declarations
We prepare and file import declarations for goods entering Great Britain from the EU and other countries. We check the documents provided, calculate the customs duties and import VAT where applicable, and follow the declaration through the customs process. If additional border formalities are required for your shipment, we can help coordinate them as well.
UK export declarations
We handle UK export declarations for both standard and more complex shipments, working with different document sets and customs requirements. If additional border formalities are required for your shipment, we can help coordinate them as well.
ENS for safety and security declarations
We prepare and file ENS declarations for goods entering Great Britain from the EU and other countries. Requirements depend on the route, type of movement and goods, so we check each shipment individually and make sure the required safety and security information is submitted before arrival.
T1 transit in NCTS
External transit for goods without Union status. Opened at a border crossing or inland — in a port, at an airport or at a customs warehouse — and closed at the office of destination.
T2 transit in NCTS
Internal transit for goods that already have Union status, used to keep that status when the route leaves the customs territory of the EU.
CHED-D for feed and food of non-animal origin
Health entry document for feed and food of non-animal origin subject to reinforced border checks, prepared together with the supporting laboratory paperwork.
CHED-A for live animals
Health entry document for consignments of live animals, lodged before arrival and coordinated with the veterinary service at the border control post.
CHED-P for products of animal origin
Health entry document for products of animal origin — meat, dairy, fish and similar consignments — with the veterinary inspection arranged at the border.
CHED-PP for plants and plant products
Health entry document for plants, plant products and wooden packaging, with the phytosanitary inspection arranged at the border.
Northern Ireland Customs Support
We prepare GMR and PBN for goods movements involving Northern Ireland, depending on the route and crossing. We can also arrange transit procedures, ENS declarations and, on request, Irish export declarations. As requirements differ between Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland, we check the route and documents first and help arrange the customs formalities needed for the journey.
For goods of Northern Ireland origin travelling through Great Britain to Europe or Ukraine, we can also prepare the required CHED documentation and assist with the related controls.
Other
Countries
The United Kingdom is one of four countries where we file declarations ourselves. Customs procedures in Poland and transit at the Hungarian and Slovak borders are handled by the same team, so one route can be covered end to end. See all our customs services.
Poland
Import clearance in all three forms — standard, procedure 42 and Article 33a — plus export declarations, T1 and T2 transit and CHED, from our offices in Białystok and Korczowa.
Hungary
T1 and T2 transit opened on the Hungarian side of the EU border, with the entry summary declaration filed in ICS2 before arrival.
Slovakia
Transit opened at the Slovak border crossing with the PCV safety declaration included, or the PCV filed on its own.
